10.15 has been fine on laptop 2016 i7

its had  issues on 2011 tower. specifically scrolling any TL in Cubase 10.5.5 to the left causes a kernal panic. 10.0.5 is ok, as have been all other apps including resolve. I’ve also had KP’s from waking from sleep caused by I think the drivers for my eSATA PCIe card. regular work as been ok in pretty much everything else. I did finally install a AMD 5700 XT to make this work. While my card benmchmarks on the high side, especially compared to eGPU based setups that do 1/2, I think the drivers have a  VRAM memory leak that will eat up all VRAM, cause flushing of VRAM. The drivers supporting the newest AMD GPU’s seem to have performance issues. Going Vega64 would probably be best but I wasn’t willing to go another $150 on top of $400…. or if you can find a Radeon 7 (VII) which is actually discontinues but has 2080TI level performance.

Stephen,

I bought a new MBP 16” loaded 64GB RAM, so there’s no choice of an earlier OS. The machine is fast as hell, but also a bit skittish in the UI, which may be Catalina craziness in action, or it may be an over-sensitive trackpad. Or both. Now using a mouse with it to see.

So who has taken the plunge, especially MacBook Pro users? I primarily use FCPx and Adobe Suite plus MS Office on my MacBook Pro. I did have a lot of music apps but moved most of that except Logic and Garageband which I barely use to Windows 10 box for several reasons (very slow Catalina support, internal SSD space for samples etc.).

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.
