What kind of rendertimes are we talking about per frame in this new 8K project? I cant really say if i can help out if rendertimes are in several days per frame this time, but if a 8core i7 128GB 2080Ti can handled a few frames over a weekend i might be able to help a bit here and there this time again.

Teddy,

Hopefully you signed up for the mailing list or followed the many social media posts about this topic or got the emails sent out to all donors and volunteers over the past couple of years. There is also a FAQ
https://www.insaturnsrings.com/post/the-isr-faq that is update from time to time (another update soon) but we are contractually unable to distribute the primary perk (copy of the film on disc) while
the film is theatrical release.
Â
We post about this on social media all the time. The one perk that is available is tickets to a showing near you and many donors have used this perk to date.
Â
You could have also just dropped me a line as well at any time, I don’t recall seeing something from you. We have over 1100 donors and perk fulfillment will have to be done when it’s feasible and practical to do so.
Â
And is should be painfully clear from this, I’m still heavily in debt and working on finishing the film. Perks are typically distributed for a project when its complete, not during production.

Â
Hey Stephen, just thought it was worth mentioning here that despite rendering on that original project on one of my machines for over a month, and contributing a week of my personal time developing an animation for the film, never saw one
scrap of any promised “benefits”, “donor points” or “prizes”Â
So, folks, keep that in mind.Â
Â
A number of folks here helped with Part one of this After Effects monster render a couple of years ago. We are doing it again. And this time, instead of 5.6K 24fps, it’s 8K square
at 30fps or over 4 times as many pixels.
Â
Worse yet, it only runs in AE 2020 on a machine with minimum 8 threads, 32GB RAM, 8 GB GPU. Â
Â
2019/2019 version are unstable and twice as slow so no go. We are offering before donor points, plus this time prizes for fastest render and most frames rendered.

Please share with like-minded folks.

Thanks all. From these and general reports online, even though now is a convenient time to go Catalina I’m going to hang back.

So far, Word and Excel 2016 are working fine on my MacPro running 10.15.2.
I’m disappointed in some of what I’ve experienced in Premiere.  I’ve noticed that some third-party effects that were accelerated on my 2012 MacPro with
Titan X CUDA are not even close to parity or better on the AMD card. That’s sad. Colorista IV is super slow to render, and laggy on the interface that has icons that disappear.
Ae seems fine, but I haven’t done that much with it. Most of my plugs that worked on High Sierra work on Catalina, and only a few were rewritten or updated for it. The new Red
Giant management software lost several of my authorizations, and won’t let me get authorized until they all return from a long holiday.
You need to find a replacement for QT Player/Pro 7. I’m using VLC as the default app for .mov and .mp4, etc.
My general advice is to run Mojave if it’s an option. I don’t trust any OSX below 10.x.5. But, I had no choice. I’m a reluctant adopter.

Â
So who has taken the plunge, especially MacBook Pro users? I primarily use FCPx and Adobe Suite plus MS Office on my MacBook Pro. I did have a lot of music apps but moved most of
that except Logic and Garageband which I barely use to Windows 10 box for several reasons (very slow Catalina support, internal SSD space for samples etc.).
