the new machines - refurb 2018 - at best will run 10.14. unless you can get a machine from when 10.12 or 10.13 was current you are SOL. welcome to the digital abyss :(. if there is a 2016 machine that would probably work but there should be no expectaion a 2018 machine will run 10.13. Google may prove otherwise but not likely. There is an apple support doc on the subject.

FWIW I replaced the keyboard in 2015 machine. cheap part, very very tedious process to pull 90 something rivets with tool I had to make ( like a super small nail puller ) and then the 90 something tiny screws that had to go in. not all the baklight worked because I messed up a tiny bit somewhere but it otherwise worked. if you can find a repair place willing to do this and has done it before, it might be the way to go if liquids did not make their way any further into the case. if they did your machine may not continue to work if there was sugar in there.

My old 2013 MacBook got some coffee on it (stupid late night mistake) and how has several keys out and maybe a battery issue.
SO, I am looking into buying I reburb to run Sierra or High Sierra.
I use CS6 which meets all my needs and don't want to get on the subscription train.
Can anyone tell me if I am correct about the newer Macbooks? I believe because they changed a chip?
