Hi Eric,

do I understand it right that you need a lot of keyframes (due to up-down-up-down-… movement) but still want the timing to be one smooth and eased move? In that case you should set all except the first and last keyframe to “rove across time”. That effectively tells After Effects that you want these keyframes to only control the location of the motion path but to not affect the timing. You can still ease the other keyframes. So if you first set all others to “rove across time” and then set first and last keyframe to “ease in”, you will get one continuous ease in over the entire animation.

Cheers,
Mathias

Hello all,

This probably seems rudimentary but I seem to have always struggled in trying to find the right way to smooth out keyframes.

Seems no matter what I use, easy easy, ease in, out, etc.  It always seems a bit choppy.  Is there some advice out there on how to tackle this?

Simple example would be animated a single line as if it were the wave you'd see at a ball game.  So every few frames the lines bends up then back down.

Appreciate some insight.  This has bugged me forever.

Eric
